COMMAND SPANISH Real Spanish for Real People!	BASIC ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE WITH WORKPLACE THEMES (BESL)
What is Command Spanish? Command Spanish®, Inc. is the country's leading provider of customized Spanish language and cross-cultural programs and products for non-Spanish-speakers who interact with Spanish-speakers in the workplace. Command Spanish provides learner-friendly language materials and workshops that require no prior knowledge of Spanish, and eliminate the tedious grammar instruction found in most other language programs. The Center for Business & Professional Development at Holyoke Community College is an Official Registered Provider (ORP) of Command Spanish. Specialized curriculum developed by Command Spanish is being used across the country to train non-Spanish speakers in over 27 professions in how to communicate verbally in Spanish. The professions include teachers, school administrators, fire personnel, police personnel, corrections personnel, paramedics/EMTs, nurses, early childhood workers, and many more. For more information, contact Maria at (413) 552-2122, Email: cbpd@hcc.mass.edu	Basic English as a Second Language with Workplace Themes In response to the growing need throughout Western Massachusetts for basic English instruction, The Center for Business & Professional Development has designed six new courses for individuals for whom English is not their primary language. We realize that many people need to improve their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, not only to function better in society in their daily lives, but also to obtain employment or advance in their employment. This fall, the center will begin the first levels of Speaking/Listening, and Reading/Writing. Advanced levels will be offered in spring 2009. Each level is in each topic area is 28 hours in length and includes all required course handouts and books.
