Employees
are a company's most valuable resource for quality assurance in product and
service. Research shows that employees who receive training through their employers
feel that they are valued and stay with their employer longer than those who
do not receive training. Further research indicates that every employee recruited,
hired and trained who leaves the job within six months costs the employer literally
thousands of dollars.
Let the Job Profiling, Assessment, and Training Services through The Center for Workforce Development at Holyoke Community College help you make sure that your company and your employees are providing the highest levels of quality to your customers! With over two decades of experience in workforce development, The Center for Business & Professional Development at HCC can meet your training needs. At HCC, we’re not just about degrees any more! And, see how the HCC Corporate College Program can further help meet your goals. |

WORKFORCE TRAINING FUND: Do you know that the Massachusetts Workforce Training fund can provide eligible Massachusetts companies with funding of up to $250,000 to help train your workforce in English, basic educational skills (Reading, Writing, Math, Using Graphically Presented Information, etc.), technology, and other skills that can close employee skill gaps? There is approximately $21,000,000 available annually in this fund, and is accessible to most companies who pay into the unemployment fund. Companies must either be located in Massachusetts or the employees needing training must work in Massachusetts. There are special funds for companies with 50 or fewer employees, and for employers who hire new employees who have been out of work for a year or more OR who have been permanently spearated from their former employers.
For more information, go to Workforce Training Fund (WTF) then contact Keith M. Hensley, Executive Director of Workforce & Economic Development, at Holyoke Community College at 413/552-2506 or khensley@hcc.mass.edu. Quote: What’s worse? Not training employees because you’re afraid they will leave, or not training them and having them stay? |

LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCING SERVICES: Local, or International? That’s up to you. Where do
you begin? Local professional conferencing services and international interactive teleconferencing services...from planning to implementation, and everything in between. Local
Conferencing and Meeting Space: Let’s face it. Planning sessions and high-level meetings in the workplace just don’t work well. Someone is always getting called out of the meeting to handle a problem. Your internal conference space, if you have any, isn’t conducive to accomplishing the goals of your meetings. Often, your presentations are limited to flip charts and overheads because your company lacks current audiovisual technology. HCC’s Conferencing Services can help you make the most of your meeting time by providing all of the resources you need to hold productive meetings that can have a lasting impact on your organization. International
Conferencing, Video, and Satellite Services: Too often, an organization is faced with tough decisions: Do you send someone to an out-of state meeting or training and use your training money to pay for travel and hotel? And when you have five employees you want to send, but can only afford to send one, who goes? Or is the meeting or training just too far away to spare the employee for 2-3 days? With HCC’s Conferencing Services, you will no longer have to face those difficult decisions. We can work with your organization to link multiple sites with interactive audio and visual capabilities. You’ll quickly forget that you are meeting with people hundreds and even thousand miles away! HCC’s

GRANT SERVICES: Training funds are available to Massachusetts companies seeking to train their employees by enhancing their current skills or introducing new skills (visit the Commonwealth’s website at www.detma.org/workforce). The Center for Business and Professional Development at HCC has written 16 workforce training fund grant applications for partner organizations. If your organization is applying for these funds, please consider including the center’s trainings and services in your application. Our staff will assist you in developing your application. HCC services and training that have typically been included in grant applications are job skill profiling, employee skill assessments, management/supervisory trainings, customer service training, employability skills workshops, and access to the Plato Learning System software and the ACT Work Keys Systems. The center has extensive experience writing state and local grant applications. If your organization does not have grant writing experience and is not including the center’s training and services in its request, we may be able to write your grant as a fee-based service. Keith M.
