What is an ACT Center?
An ACT Center is a facility that
delivers state-of-the-art computerized testing and training services to
professional organizations, individuals, and businesses using
computer-based technologies, the Internet, and other cutting-edge
processes. It is a resource for our entire community.
What
does it cost to take a course or to take an assessment?
The
price for each course varies. Some are charged by the length of time a
user is on the system, but most are on a per title basis.

Learning System
Holyoke Community College has been
awarded "Lead New England College" status from PLATO, to provide
interactive, computer-based instruction through the PLATO Learning System. PLATO, currently the #1
adult-oriented computer-based learning system in the country, is used
nationally by large and small companies, school systems, colleges, and
workforce training programs.
PLATO offers Adult Basic
Education, English-as-a-Second Language, work skills, and GED Preparation
instruction, as well as secondary level instruction in reading skills,
biology, physics, calculus, Geometric Design and Tolerencing, Team
Building, and other skills needed by today's employees...and PLATO is
aligned to Work Keys!
K-12 Educators and parents will be pleased to know that PLATO is
also aligned to the MCAS.
The Center for Business &
Professional Development offers PLATO access through license leases as well
as through the Internet. We
also offer a full range of services to support PLATO at companies or at
the HCC Campus. Nationally and in Massachusetts, employer surveys continually
document the need for employees with a firm foundation of basic skills!
